The Napa Valley Community Foundation is many things: A public charity. A grantmaking foundation. A philanthropic advisor. A junction for people, resources and ideas. Each day we link donors with projects that do good work for our community. We are one of 700 community foundations across the United States that serve local or regional areas. All community foundations are structured as a collection of permanent and expendable funds. These funds are created by individuals, families, corporations, and nonprofit organizations. Think of a community foundation as a community bank, only it’s a philanthropic bank that houses hundreds of accounts, and the accountholders deposit monies that are subsequently donated to charity.

Our funds are supported by local professionals. And, we are governed by a Board of Directors, which is comprised of Napa County community leaders that are accountable to you.

Since 1994, the Community Foundation has distributed more than $12 million in grants. Currently, we steward 100 funds held by individuals, families, businesses and nonprofit agencies. We are entrusted with nearly $20 million in charitable assets. Last year we distributed approximately $2.7 million in grants.
