Special edition of Community Link

This has been another tough year for working families and the nonprofit organizations that support them.

Demand for food, shelter and emergency assistance remains high.  Nonprofits continue to serve more people, even as donations and government grants fall away.

By pooling resources in our Community Impact Funds, dozens of local donors have been able to help in a big way, not only with basic human needs, but also in other important areas, like the arts and education, where public and private dollars have decreased substantially.

Here are some highlights of what we're doing with our Community Impact Funds and how--together with our donors--we are making a difference.

* $95,000 focused on the safety net--food, housing and immediate needs like groceries, rental assistance, and counseling for heads of households struggling to find work and care for their families

*$120,000 for projects to improve college-readiness among low-income teens

* $35,000 to strengthen the arts sector and help it thrive

* $77,000 to build the infrastructure of Napa County nonprofits
