About us

We mobilize resources, promote philanthropy and provide leadership on vital community issues in Napa County. Napa Valley Community Foundation is many things: A public charity. A grantmaking foundation. A philanthropic advisor. A junction for people, resources and ideas. Every day, we link donors to projects that do good in our community.

We look for charitable projects that make a lasting difference. Our deep knowledge about specific nonprofits and the charitable sector in Napa Valley comes from research, site visits, due diligence for grants and frequent meetings in the community—all conducted by our professional staff.

We commit our resources to these projects, and inspire others to do so, as well. We make giving easy, effective and enduring, and we encourage a network of local donors to get involved.

We believe there is strength in numbers—that by working together, we can help more people more quickly than any one donor acting alone. We cultivate relationships with other funders to create opportunities for various philanthropic groups to collectively support community projects.

We multiply the impact of individual givers, pooling resources for the common good in our Community Impact Funds. We help make Napa County stronger, more vibrant, more livable for all who call it home.

We serve as a catalyst for positive change in Napa County. Since 1994, the Community Foundation has served as a bridge between philanthropic families and hard-working nonprofit agencies, bringing people, ideas and resources together to enhance the quality of life in the Napa Valley community.

From American Canyon to Calistoga, the Community Foundation has distributed nearly $20 million in grants in the last 15 years, and currently serves as the philanthropic partner to 100 individuals, families, nonprofit agencies and corporations in Napa Valley.
