New hope for victims of domestic violence
A new project of Napa Emergency Women’s Services (NEWS) has shifted the focus of police response from perpetrator to victim. A domestic response team delivers crisis intervention services immediately on the scene and connects victims to help from other agencies. This best-practice approach was supported by a $50,000 grant from a Community Foundation Donor Advised Fund. Our donors set up the grant as a challenge to the community, which resulted in an additional $50,000 towards the program from Queen of the Valley Medical Center.
