Creating a thriving arts and culture sector
A few years ago, Napa County’s arts sector was in crisis, with 10 arts groups shuttering their doors in a matter of months, and others following close behind. The Community Foundation responded by gathering local arts organizations to discuss the issues. Our Board then launched the Fund for the Arts. Donors from across the Valley contributed to this Fund, which has since made more than $200,000 in grants to bolster Arts Council of Napa Valley. Our investment in Arts Council has resulted in a cultural plan based on hard data and community input, $288,000 from Napa County Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) to implement the cultural plan, and $150,000 in additional funding for the nonprofit trade association.
