Welcoming two new board members

We’re proud to share that two accomplished leaders joined the Board of Napa Valley Community Foundation this June: Patricia (Pat) Clarey and Dr. Richard (Rich) Anderson.

Patricia (Pat) Clarey

Pat Clarey is a longtime St. Helena resident with deep experience in government, healthcare, and nonprofit service. She currently serves on the Board of the Napa Valley State Parks Association and the Napa County Regional Park & Open Space District, and joined NVCF’s Finance Committee prior to becoming a Board member.

Professionally, Pat was the first Chief of Staff to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and was the lead negotiator on two $100 billion state budgets. She also served as Senior Vice President and Chief State Health Programs and Regulatory Relations Officer at Health Net, Inc., where she oversaw federal and state regulatory affairs, legislative relations, and the company’s charitable foundation.

Pat holds a bachelor’s degree from Union College in New York and a master’s degree in Public Administration from Harvard’s Kennedy School.

Dr. Richard (Rich) Anderson

Dr. Rich Anderson is Chairman and CEO of The Doctors Company, the nation’s largest physician-owned medical malpractice insurer. A longtime Napa Valley resident, Rich has supported NVCF for many years as both a donor and a fundholder, and also served on the Foundation’s Finance Committee before joining the Board.

Rich brings decades of leadership experience in healthcare and policy. In addition to his role at The Doctors Company, he has served on the Board of Advisors at the RAND Institute for Civil Justice and is a published author and editor.

He holds a bachelor’s degree from Yale University and a medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine.

We’re thrilled to welcome Pat and Rich to our Board and grateful for the expertise and heart they bring to our work.
