Ruth Ortiz

Scholarships & Grants Associate

Ruth joined the team in 2025 as our Scholarships & Grants Associate and supports the distribution of grant and scholarship funds. In her role, Ruth helps manage the full lifecycle of scholarships and grants—assisting applicants, coordinating program requirements, and ensuring strong communication with community partners. She provides applicants and recipients with attentive, personalized support, helping them navigate processes, gather required documents, and access resources with clarity and confidence.

Before joining Napa Valley Community Foundation, Ruth served in multiple roles at On The Move’s Napa County Recovery Center, including SHARE Program Coordinator, Community Navigator, Outreach Coordinator, and Outreach Ambassador. She also led major outreach efforts—coordinating community events, developing multilingual educational materials, and delivering housing and disaster-preparedness education.

Ruth holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from Sonoma State University and an associate degree in Communication Studies from Napa Valley College.

Ruth was born in Mexico, but grew up in Napa, and outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, including her dog, Mika. As well as traveling, exploring new cultures, hiking, and trying new foods.
