Imagine being a part of someone’s journey to becoming an American citizen, providing them with hope, resources, and a helping hand. This is the opportunity that awaits you with the Citizenship Legal Services Collaborative (CLS). We are calling upon the warm hearts and willing hands of our community to volunteer and support our fellow residents on their path to U.S. citizenship.
By volunteering, you won’t just be giving time; you’ll be part of a ripple effect that brings unity, strength, and prosperity to our community. By helping to organize vital citizenship workshops in Napa, St. Helena, and American Canyon, you provide a supportive platform for our immigrant neighbors as they pursue their dreams of U.S. citizenship.
Join us on July 13th for an orientation & training session, where we will guide you through every step of the volunteering process. You will be prepared to confidently support our upcoming workshops, helping those who dream of calling America ‘home’ realize their dreams.
Volunteer Orientation Date: Thursday, July 13 at 5pm at Napa Valley Community Foundation’s Community Conference Room at 3299 Claremont Way #4 Napa, CA 94558.

About the Citizenship Legal Services Collaborative:
CLS is not just a coalition; it’s a heartfelt partnership of organizations and individuals that believe in the power of community. Our work is the manifestation of kindness, unity, and a shared vision for a stronger Napa County. Core partners include the Neighborhood Initiative, a program of On The Move, the Immigration Institute of the Bay Area (IIBA), Puertas Abiertas, Up Valley Family Centers, and Napa Valley Community Foundation.
Upcoming workshop dates for those seeking US citizenship are as follows:
- Thursday, July 20th at 2-7pm in Napa
- Thursday, August 10th at 2-7pm in American Canyon
- Thursday, September 14th, timing TBD in Calistoga
- Wednesday, October 18th at 2-7pm in Napa
- Thursday, November 9th at 2-7pm in Napa
- Thursday, December 7th at 2-7pm in Napa
CLS was launched by Napa Valley Community Foundation (NVCF) as part of its One Napa Valley Initiative (ONVI) in 2013, a visionary campaign aimed at nurturing a more inclusive Napa County, and to provide immigrant legal services and pathways for Valley residents to feel secure and engaged in the future of the community. In 2012, NVCF commissioned a Napa County immigration study that revealed that while many foreign-born residents were eligible to become citizens, they had not done so nearly as often as their peers around the state (30% in Napa vs. 37% in CA overall) due to the absence of a robust and affordable legal services infrastructure.
Since its inception nearly 11 years ago, the Initiative has accomplished considerable milestones. We’ve reached over 100,000 individuals with information about the opportunities and responsibilities of citizenship, provided more than 10,000 clients with legal consultations, and have proudly witnessed nearly 2,200 individuals become U.S. citizens.
Join this enriching journey at our volunteer orientation on July 13. (RSVP: bit.ly/44lgZS2) As a volunteer, you have the power to touch lives, fortify our community, and be a part of the extraordinary process of helping people achieve their aspirations of citizenship.
Together, let’s be a beacon of hope.
