Napa Valley Community Foundation Welcomes Six New Board Members

Maya Dalla Valle, Michael Holman, Rick Jones, Meaghan Qian-Fu Becker, Janelle Sellick, Doug Shafer

We are delighted to announce the addition of six new members to our Board of Directors. Each of these individuals brings a wealth of experience, a passion for community service, and a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for all in Napa Valley.

Maya Dalla Valle, the talented winemaker at Dalla Valle Vineyards, holds a master’s degree in viticulture and enology from Cornell University, and a master’s of business and science degree in vineyard and winery management from France’s prestigious Bordeaux Science Agro. She has been an active member of NVCF’s Community Programs and Grants Committee since July 2021, demonstrating her dedication to the Foundation’s mission.

Michael Holman, a partner at Holman, Teague et al. in Napa, specializes in business and real estate law. Michael earned his bachelor’s degree from UC San Diego and his juris doctor degree from UC Davis School of Law. His nonprofit experience includes serving on the boards of Legal Aid Napa Valley and Bay Area Legal Aid, which will help him bring a strong legal perspective to NVCF.  He has been a member of the Foundation’s Stewardship Committee for the past two years.

Rick Jones, owner of Jones Family Vineyards, brings extensive leadership experience from his previous roles as Executive Vice President of Safeway and Managing Partner at McKinsey & Co. Rick holds a bachelor’s degree from Princeton and a master’s degree from Stanford Business School. He has a rich history of nonprofit board involvement, including organizations such as Napa Valley Vintners, Communicare+Ole, Napa Communities Firewise Foundation, and Napa Valley Vine Trail.

Meaghan Qian-Fu Becker, former General Manager of Quintessa Vineyards, brings significant leadership experience in finance, having previously worked at Goldman Sachs. Born in Nanjing, China, Meaghan moved to Canada at age 10 and later graduated from Harvard Business School. She currently serves on the board of Napa Valley Grapegrowers, the Finance Committee of the Farmworker Foundation and has been a member of NVCF’s Finance Committee since July 2022.

Janelle Sellick, Executive Director of the American Canyon Community & Parks Foundation, brings nonprofit staff leadership experience to the board. With a background in recreational therapy and administration, and degrees from CSU Chico and CSU Sacramento, Janelle has served on the board of the American Canyon Chamber of Commerce. She has been actively involved with NVCF as a committee member since 2020.

Doug Shafer, former winemaker at Shafer Vineyards, has deep roots in the Valley and a background in viticulture and enology. He earned his viticulture and enology degree from UC Davis and helped build Shafer Vineyards into one of the most highly regarded brands in the industry. His nonprofit board experience includes serving on the boards of Napa Valley Vintners, and the Napa Valley College Wine Institute, bringing a keen understanding of the wine industry and community engagement to the Foundation.
