We are delighted to announce that Caitlin Childs, a skilled storyteller and passionate community advocate, has joined our team at Napa Valley Community Foundation. As our new Senior Director of Communications and Marketing, Caitlin’s mission will be to bring the heart of our work into the spotlight, showcasing our impact and influence for the wider community through her compelling narratives.

Caitlin’s love for community outreach and philanthropy was ignited early: she co-founded her first nonprofit organization at the young age of 18. She later studied political science at San Francisco State University, while simultaneously dedicating her weekends to serving food to the homeless community in her hometown of Santa Rosa.

She comes to us following an impressive tenure as the Director of Communications at the Community Foundation Sonoma County (CFSC), where her dedication and leadership helped raise over $25 million for disaster recovery initiatives.

Caitlin’s community engagement extends beyond her professional life. She co-founded a nonprofit community radio station and served as a member of the Board of Community Services for the City of Santa Rosa. Her passion and exceptional work earned her the North Bay Business Journal’s “Forty Under 40” Award in 2017, a recognition given to outstanding young professionals.

Outside the office, Caitlin is a dedicated nerd at heart. She is a regular attendee at San Diego Comic-Con, previously hosted the Expansecast (a podcast dedicated to the sci-fi television show, The Expanse), and is an avid reader with interests ranging from political non-fiction to science fiction, as well as the daily newspaper.

One of Caitlin’s favorite quotes, from Dr. Thomas Dooley, perfectly encapsulates her life philosophy: “Dedicate some of your life to others. Your dedication will not be a sacrifice. It will be an exhilarating experience because it is an intense effort applied toward a meaningful end.”

We are excited for Caitlin Childs to bring her unique experience, storytelling prowess, and deep commitment to community service to the Foundation. We believe her skills and passion will help illuminate our purpose and progress, further inspiring our generous donors and our hardworking nonprofit grantees.

Please join us in giving Caitlin a warm welcome to our team. We are excited about the impact we will make together.

Stay tuned for the stories to come!
