Napa Valley Community Foundation (NVCF) and Monarch Justice Center are thrilled to announce a $200,000 grant to support Monarch Justice Center’s important work empowering victims of crime and promoting healing and recovery. This grant comes through the generosity of State Senator Bill Dodd, and the Dodd Family Foundation—a fund of Napa Valley Community Foundation.
In collaboration with us at NVCF, Senator Dodd and his wife, Mary, have established a donor advised fund to benefit the Senator’s priority charities within Senate District 3. This inaugural grant from the Dodd’s new fund follows the success of Senator Dodd’s 24th Annual Holiday Party, which took place on December 8, 2023, at The Meritage Resort and Spa in Napa.
The event’s proceeds were dedicated to the newly established fund at NVCF, and will be a source of philanthropy for years to come, thanks to the generosity of the event’s sponsors, and attendees who pledged with open hearts in the live and silent auctions.
Senator Dodd expressed his gratitude, stating, “Mary and I are so honored by the generosity of this community. Having hosted this holiday party fundraiser for 24 years, we’ve witnessed firsthand the power of collective action. We believe deeply in the mission of Monarch Justice Center and are proud to support their efforts through our work with NVCF.”
Echoing this sentiment, Terence Mulligan, President & CEO of Napa Valley Community Foundation, remarked, “We’re inspired by the philanthropic example set by Senator Dodd and his family. Their commitment to turning generosity into action to help the most vulnerable in our community sets a benchmark for what a caring community looks like, and what we can achieve together.”
Shea Hunter, Executive Director of Monarch Justice Center, highlighted the impact of the grant: “Monarch is incredibly grateful for the generosity Senator Dodd has shown to us. As a relatively new organization, this grant is a game-changer. It will significantly enhance our ability to provide comprehensive support services to victims of crime, helping them to heal, recover, and reclaim their lives.”
