Napa Valley Community Foundation (NVCF) is calling upon local organizations dedicated to small animal welfare to submit proposals for the next cycle of grants from The David and Jane Gotelli Family Fund. This permanently endowed fund, initiated by the Gotellis’ thoughtful legacy gift in 2018, has been instrumental in ensuring the health and safety of small animals in Napa County.

Established through a heartfelt bequest, the Gotelli Family Fund has become a cornerstone of support for the welfare of small animals throughout Napa County. Nonprofits and animal welfare agencies are invited to apply for grants ranging from $5,000 to $30,000 to support local services benefiting small animals, such as dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, and more.

Grant priorities include providing general support to organizations dedicated to the health, welfare, or humane treatment of small animals, supporting animal shelters, sanctuaries, and adoption programs, helping subsidize medical services like spay/neuter programs, small animal rescue and care, and community education and disaster preparedness initiatives that benefit small companion animals.

Proposals must be submitted by January 18, 2024, following the grant guidelines available here. NVCF welcomes inquiries and is available for discussions before submission. Contact Rejane Brito, Senior Director of Programs & Philanthropy, for assistance.

Mr. and Mrs. Gotelli were longtime Napa residents who both passed away at age 87. The endowed Fund creates a permanent income stream to support yearly grants to organizations dedicated to small animals. Since the first grants were distributed in 2020, the Fund has granted $861,000.

“The Gotellis’ devotion to animal welfare continues to inspire action and generosity,” shares Rejane. “As we open this year’s grant cycle, we’re reminded of their compassionate commitment to our smallest companions. It’s our privilege at NVCF to turn their love for small animals into a movement of care and compassion across Napa Valley.”
